30 Poems, 30 Days 2020: Arrangement (Day 14)

She taught me about floral arrangements

I’ve always known how to handle flowers

The importance of cutting the stem at a slant

So the end would grab the flower’s food

Blended in the water to make them last

Once the vase was ready for the flowers

The art began as we decided which

Flower goes where, large to small

The colors as they worked to tell a story

The aromas filled the air, as the music ran

The life of flowers given to share to others

No matter what the occasion, or day,

They were ready on time
