30 Poems in 30 Days 2022: Lucky Cat (Day 13)

Writer: Christina VourcosChristina Vourcos

My photo from my first New York City trip in 2019

These lucky cats can be seen

In different places, while I’ve never

Learned why they are so lucky

They greet me with a happy hello

We worry about bad luck

In some cases around black cats

When we shouldn’t, while we should

Care for our safety, we should

Care for all kind of cats

Black cats are actually lucky

Just as the number thirteen

So this luck actually gives me hope

Someday I’ll see familiar places

As well as new, with a bit of time,

And a lot of work, but it’s worth it
