30 Poems in 30 Days 2022: Greek Easter (Day 24)

Writer's picture: Christina VourcosChristina Vourcos

Greek Easter traditions that I learned

Midnight candlelight always lasts

Easter bread kneaded in braids

Easter lilies that bloom near

It’s usually after the main Easter

Which means everything is on

Discount to make Easter eggs

Bright red representing sacrifice

A game is played by two players

Who can crack their hard-boiled egg

First to represent the broken tomb

A woman was the first to see Him

Risen, but continue to be ignored

Women were meant to have a higher

Calling, but the opposite gender

Never let them because of tradition

Some traditions are good to remember

Some traditions need to be abandoned

Let’s move to the future as we should
