My chemo journey was mine

I wasn’t going to accept another path

No shaving my hair for a bald head

If I would lose my hair, it would

There were scarfs and wraps

They weren’t me no matter the color

Others could choose that path, but not me

Hats have always been me

So finding one for my journey

Made sense it would feel right to me

Soft corduroy black with a touch of brown

Felt perfectly Greek to me

No matter the pain or struggle

In this journey, I would be me

A simple cap for some, but normality

As I put on a different hat
